“Estate: La Elsi

Vineyards -

La Elsi, named after the mother of the two cofounders: Adolfo and Gustavo, is located in the heart of the first area: Perdrial, Lujan de Cuyo.

The deep soils from this second terrace of the Mendoza River present some heterogeneity that allows us to play with our two planted grape varieties.

Malbec, dated from 1960, is located in the stoniest area of the riverbed. This variety offers fruit expressions and a complete, full-bodied palate.

Our 25-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, from a parcel with genetic material originally imported from the French area of “Haut Medoc”, is located in the area of sandy loam and silt clay loam soils in the vineyard, the deepest in our Estate.

This offers a typical, spicy and complex expression with a unique texture for this noble grape variety. La Elsi Vineyard. Vines conducted by vertical trellis system and furrow irrigation, these two varieties planted ungrafted are the soul of our red wines.

The Cabernet Sauvignon
finds freedom in its soils...

Vintages -

This region of the first zone is well- known for its average low temperatures, which produces kind of late harvests during the month of March… and, depending on the year, it could also take place in the first days of April.

Features -

The area and type of soil characteristics make the Malbec wines be of great concentration with soft tannins and low acidity that can be improved with early harvest during the season. They present an excellent, oily body on the palate and a well- defined bouquet of fresh or ripe red fruits.

Cabernet Sauvignon finds great freedom in this soils, offering full-bodied, high acidity wines along with textured and very structured tannins on the palate. This soil gives the flexibility to look for young and expressive ranges, or rather aging potential Cabernets. It is completed with an intense and spicy nose. Pruning and canopy management avoids strong green and pyrazine notes.
